Oscar Mendoza, CEO of Hospital Capilar, has gone to Onda Cero Pontevedra in commemoration of World Hair Day. An interview where he shared his vision on hair health and the firm work of Hospital Capilar in improving the quality of life of thousands of people.
Hair is not only an aesthetic accessory, but it plays a crucial role in our overall health. In addition to acting as a protective barrier against external factors, it has strong implications for our self-esteem, mental health and, ultimately, psychological well-being.
Hair is the scalp's protective element against ultraviolet radiation, preventing sunburn and reducing the risk of developing skin conditions. It is, in short, a biological shield against solar radiation. This is why scalps with greater hair density reduce the penetration of UV rays and decrease the production of free radicals responsible for cellular aging and the development of skin diseases.
People with androgenic alopecia, as they progressively lose their hair density, have a higher risk of suffering sunburn on the scalp, and even of suffering from melanoma.
Among the types of alopecia that exist, androgenetic alopecia is the most common of all in both men and women. It is a chronic hormonal and genetic disease that affects almost half of the population. Due to a hormonal imbalance, the hair follicles atrophy, causing considerable thinning of the hair until they end up falling off and, finally, the hair falls out. In these cases, the hair does not grow back, causing baldness.
Although men are more predisposed to it, many women suffer from the effects of androgenetic alopecia.
Óscar Mendoza experienced the effects of baldness first-hand. He wanted to find a solution, and so in 2017 he travelled to Turkey to undergo his first hair transplant. It was at this moment that Óscar's life took a 360-degree turn.
From this personal experience as a hair transplant patient in Türkiye, he decided to found Hospital Capilar with the aim of offering hair treatments of the highest quality and with the standards of Spanish health care that improve people's lives.
Unlike other countries, hair clinics in Europe, and especially in Spain, are subject to strict health controls. This ensures that procedures are carried out under high quality and safety standards, offering peace of mind and confidence to patients.
