Evolution of the hair transplant: 1 month after the intervention

The first month after a hair transplant is a crucial stage for the proper adaptation of the transplanted follicles. During this time, it is important to follow the medical team's recommendations to ensure a good postoperative period, such as sleeping with your head elevated, avoiding sports, and washing your hair properly after the hair transplant.

After the first month of hair transplantation, it's normal for the inflammation to have decreased considerably and we'll begin to notice hair growth. However, certain changes also begin in the scalp that may raise questions or concerns. Hospital Capilar, hair transplant clinicWe'll tell you about the day-to-day progress of hair transplants during this period and answer patients' main questions.

Symptoms one month after hair transplant

After 1 month of hair transplant, it is common and normal to experience certain symptoms.

Loss of grafted hair: beginning of the Shock Loss stage

Shock loss occurs one month after hair transplant surgery. During this stage, the transplanted hair falls out due to the stress the scalp endures during the procedure. Although the hair falls out, the follicles remain, so the hair will grow back stronger and thicker. Shock loss typically lasts around two weeks, although it varies depending on the patient.

Redness and swelling

Scalp redness and swelling usually reduce significantly within the first 15 days. If these symptoms persist after a month, it is advisable to visit a hair clinic to assess the condition of the area and begin treatment if necessary.

Return to normality

Between two weeks and a month after the hair transplant, we can resume certain activities that were previously restricted.

Exercising one month after a hair transplant

During the first month, it's important to avoid sports and physical activities that involve excessive sweating to prevent infection, inflammation, and damage to the grafted area. After two weeks, we can resume light activities, but we can gradually resume our exercise routine after a month.

Put on a cap or helmet after the hair transplant

Another important aspect is the possibility of covering the head. After one month, patients can resume wearing caps, hats, and helmets without risk of affecting the graft. However, it is advisable to choose breathable materials to avoid excessive sweating and to avoid excessive pressure or rubbing against the graft area.

How can I tell if my hair transplant has become infected in the first month?

Although infections after a hair transplant are not common, it is important to be aware of certain warning signs:

  • Persistent and increasing redness.
  • Severe pain or extreme sensitivity in the treated area.
  • Discharge of pus or foul odor.
  • Fever or general malaise.

If you experience any of these symptoms, it is crucial to visit a hair salon immediately for proper treatment.
