Hospital Capilar in the program "And now Sonsoles" on Antena 3

Hospital Capilar goes to the “And now Sonsoles” program, presented by Sonsoles Ónega, on Antena 3 to talk about hair graft in women, a topic that still remains taboo. Dr. María del Carmen Soto, hair surgeon, and Susana, a patient who underwent a hair graft in Hospital Capilar Madrid, have shared their experiences and points of view on female alopecia.

Visibility of female alopecia on Antena 3

Although alopecia and baldness tend to be associated with men, the truth is that women also suffer from this chronic disease. There are various types and factors that cause hair loss, but androgenetic alopecia is currently the most common in both women and men. It is a chronic hormonal disease with a genetic component in which androgens atrophy the hair follicles, causing the hair to miniaturize, making it finer until it falls off and does not grow back naturally.

Androgenetic alopecia has no cure as such, but there are a series of treatments to stop hair loss and considerably improve the appearance of the hair. The influencer Boticaria García introduced these treatments by presenting the main drugs aimed at reversing the effects of alopecia in women: Minoxidil, Finasteride and Dutasteride. The first of them is a vasodilator that facilitates the arrival of nutrients to the hair follicles, thus thickening the hair and considerably improving its quality. On the other hand, Finasteride and Dutasteride are two antiandrogens that inhibit the hormonal activity that causes hair loss, therefore stopping hair loss.

Susana's case: anemia and hair loss

Female alopecia in women is a real problem that affects a significant number of women in our country. Giving it visibility is crucial both to normalize baldness, not only in men, but also to know what to do or who to turn to at the first signs of alopecia. Susana, patient Hospital Capilar Madrid, went to the program “And now Sonsoles” with the aim of telling about her battle against alopecia and in this way making known a real problem that many women face in silence.

Susana told Antena 3 that she started having hair loss at the age of 23 due to iron deficiency anemia that she managed to control with supplements and medication. However, after giving birth and going through certain personal situations that affected her emotionally, her androgenic alopecia manifested itself, making evident the lack of hair in the upper area of the scalp. It is at this moment when Susana goes to Hospital Capilar in Madrid and, after a personalized medical assessment, you are prescribed oral treatment and undergo a hair graft to repopulate those areas without hair.

Before and after Susana's hair transplant

The results of the hair transplant in the Sonsoles Ónega program

Susana's intervention lasted around 6 hours and a total of 1.800 hair follicles were implanted in the frontal and upper area of her head. Although the definitive results are seen after the first year of hair surgery, now at 6 months Susana has managed to recover her hair density in the areas affected by androgenetic alopecia.

The change is noticeable, and it is still in the middle of its evolution process. The effectiveness of the hair transplant in women This is evidenced by results like Susana's, and is also a completely viable option for women with alopecia.

Dr. Soto explains Susana's case from a medical perspective

Dr. Soto emphasized in the Sonsoles Ónega program the importance of having the figure of the doctor specializing in hair surgery close to the patient. Although it is a very widespread technique today, it is still a surgical intervention that requires successive medical evaluations and pre- and postoperative indications. This is why, like Susana did, choosing Spain as a place to undergo a hair implant is the option that can offer the patient the greatest medical security and comfort.
